Dog Birthday Cake

Sometimes you haven't any idea what to give someone for Birthday. A new year started and the Birthdays are coming up. I decided to bake a special cake for my neighbor.

She is a huge dog lover and so I looked up alot of youtube videos, but sadly I'm not a professional, but I didn't so bad.
First I made 3 layers of biscuit (the next time I will try out an American cake, because the biscuit wasn't easy to cut) and cut the body shape of a dog. I put some apricot jam between the layers for better taste and support.

I changed my mind about the legs and so I cut them off and covered the body with butter cream.

On the right picture I shaped the legs from the left overs of the biscuit. It was hard work and alot of thinking :).
The Marshmallow fondant gave me a headache. Either it was the food color powder or the different brand of marshmallow I used. Each time I got the right size of fondant it started to break :(. But after long time and alot of patience I won :).

It almost looks like a chicken :). The hardest part were the head. I formed the head also using biscuit.

Covered with butter cream and fondant.

I finished everything up and the result didn't look so bad. I'm pretty sure an artist or professional could have made it much better, but listen! Its made with a lot of love and if you could have seen my neighbors face, you know it didn't matter.
