Marshmallow Fondant
Ingredients
16oz Marshmallows (ca. 450g)
1/2 cup shortening
3-5 Tblsp. Water
2lbs powder sugar (ca. 900g)
Instructions
Ok, I got this from rosebakes.com. The sad part the shortening you get it at an American store, like Bobbys Foodstore or so. I didn't buy it, instead I bought Ceres, but not to put it in the marshmallow mixture. I used it to grease the mixture.
So that's what I did:
I put the marshmallows in a huge bowl with 3-5 Tblsp. It has to be good for a microwave, because the marshmallow won't be the only thing what will melt. Anyway, set the microwave not too high, 600-750 watt should be fine for 1-2 minutes. It's hard to tell and watch it, before there is marshmallow all over the microwave. Not easy to clean it. When the marshmallow are melt put some powder sugar in it and stir it with a cooking spoon. It helps when you grease everything with Ceres. Stir it until it gets soft. You already greased the place where you want to roll it out. Put it there with some powder sugar. Don't worry, you need all of the powder sugar. Now knead until you get it smooth and ready to roll it out, but before you roll it out put it in the fridge for some hours, to let it rest.
It's a real mess, I know. You get your hands dirty, but trust me it's worth.
I never bought the ready to go fondant, because they don't taste like a homemade one.
